This is an “adult-oriented” visual and performing arts festival; while supervised young children and teenagers are welcome during the day, there are no specifically planned activities for them.

Security Statement:

While private Security and Dallas Police officers’ presence have always been involved in our Festival security, in keeping with the times, our procedures now include vehicle blockades, backpack restrictions, and security personnel monitoring Festival entrances. A See Something Say Something campaign will also be in place. The following security information and restrictions will be posted at the festival entrances:

 

Getting to the Festival:

Parking is always challenging in Deep Ellum and during the Festival, parking can be hard to find and expensive. Best to take DART Light Rail which stops one block from the Festival. There are four official Drop Off locations for taxi, Lyft, Uber, etc. – 3100 Commerce St. intersection with Hall St., and 3100 Elm St. at Hall St. which is near the center of the festival; and 3700 Elm St. at intersection with Exposition Ave. and 3700 Commerce St. at Exposition Ave which is near the main stage. This location is also ideal for bicycle and scooter parking.

If you must drive your car to the Festival you will find numerous public and private lots in and around Deep Ellum as well as limited metered spaces on Commerce and Main Street. Parking lot prices vary from $7.00 to $20.00++ and city lots $2-$5 and metered lots (pay by phone app available) $2 per hour.

 

DartDART to the Festival:

Take the DART Rain Green Line to the Baylor University Medical Center Station for the closest stop; the festival is just two blocks away. The Deep Ellum Station will drop you off six blocks west of the Festival entrance which is at Malcolm X and Main Sreet. Fares are available from the GoPass mobile ticketing app, at any DART Rail station from a ticketing vending machine, or from a bus operator. A $6 Local Day Pass is good for all-day service, or a $3 PM Pass if you will be travelling from noon on. Visit DART.org for trip planning, schedules, fares, and more.

Musical Artists:

Featuring over 100 original live performances from all over the metroplex and beyond performing music representing a variety of genres on four outdoor concert stages and two performance areas.

Visual Artists:

Over 200 juried Fine Artists from throughout the nation will be displaying and selling their original works at the Festival. The exquisite collections showcased will include paintings, sculptures, photography, jewelry, woodworking, ceramics, mixed media, leatherworks, fashion and other unique works of art and fine crafts.

The Deep Ellum Artists’ Village:

The Deep Ellum Artists’ Village will be a celebrating all things local and will be located in the open lot near the intersection of Main Street and Exposition Avenue and includes the Sons of Hermann Hall Courtyard and the old bowling alley (OBA) converted into a fine arts gallery and performance space.

 

ART battle:

Art battle is coming back to Dallas and this year they will be hosting their live art tournament at the 26th annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival. They will be bringing back the best from Seasons 1 and 2, as well as opening up a few spots for new artists who haven’t battled before. With Art Battle, artists compete live – transforming blank canvas to finished works as audiences experience the spectacle and individual creations. The audience decides their winners each round, with votes cast for their chosen artist.

 

The all-new Sings and strings stage:

Located at Main Street and Trunk Street, this stage will be hosting Open Classical every day from 11 am to 2 pm, then again from 4 pm to 7 pm. In between their operettas, classical quartets, trios, and other professional classical musicians, they will be hosting their staple event, Open Classical, a scheduled showcase for classically-oriented musicians of varying skill levels. Aside from this great representation of classical music, there will be top-notch singer songwriters programmed by The Dallas Songwriters Association from 7 pm to 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday nights!

 

Merchandise:

Official Festival Posters and various Festival and Deep Ellum souvenir T-Shirts are available at the merchandise booth at the Deep Ellum Artists’ Village location on Main St outside Sons Of Herman Hall.

 

Food and Beverage Information:

Delicious International Festival Cuisine! Concessionaires will be serving a myriad of culinary delights throughout the festival including American funnel cakes, jumbo corn dogs, BBQ, and Cajun. Latino, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Italian, crepes and specialty desserts along with various health-foods. Beer, wine, and soft beverages will also be available for purchase. In restricted Festival Lounges cocktails can be purchased.

In support of festival vendors and permit regulations, no outside food or beverages may be brought into or consumed on the festival site.

IT IS FROM THE SALE OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE AND THE COMMISSION THE FESTIVAL RECEIVES FROM ITS PARTICIPATING CONCESSIONAIRES AND RESTAURANTS THAT THIS MAJOR FESTIVAL MAINTAINS ITSELF AS FREE TO ATTEND.

All food and beverage sales transactions are conducted by either using credit cards directly with the concessionaire or if using cash by first purchasing coupons from coupon sales booths conveniently located throughout the Festival. (Concessionaires are not permitted to accept cash at any time). Coupons may be purchased with either Cash or Credit Cards. Coupons are sold in strips of 9 for $10.00 and have a value of $1.00 each. Credit card transactions at the food or beverage booths will have a 4% “Festival Surcharge” added to the total. Additional individual coupons are available for $1.25 each but with cash only. Unredeemed coupons are non-refundable or transferable to another event and will be considered a contribution in supporting this annual Festival. An ATM is located at the Texas Brand Bank at Hall and Main street.

Children at the Festival:

The Deep Ellum Entertainment district is an edgy adult-oriented area with bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and galleries. This visual and performing arts festival is also adult themed at times. While supervised young children and teenagers are welcome during the day, there are no activities specifically planned for them.

 

Weather:

The Festival will attempt to go on even if it rains (or snows, like it did in 2008). Short or light periods of rain will only delay the Festival but the show will stay on schedule. The weather savvy local audience dresses for the weather, ducks into local restaurants and bars, and comes right back out when the weather clears up. We maintain weather monitors at all times and will keep audiences posted if we foresee any severe problems.

 

Portable Restrooms:

Outdoor port-o-let restrooms are located at Murry Street, 2nd St and Exposition Ave cross streets.

If any personal item is lost or found please drop by the Festival Headquarters during festival hours.
