COVID-19 Procedures

Safety is always priority one for the Deep Ellum Arts Festival™. We are in communication with the City and State officials who are closely monitoring COVID-19 and with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure the city has best “evolving practices” in place for public mass gatherings and the Festival will be explicitly following this guidance. 

At this time, we are planning to hold the Festival over our normal dates (starting first Friday of April) April 2-4, 2021 pending final permitting from the City of Dallas. Our hope is with the immediate roll out of the COVID-19 vaccine things will just be getting back to normal by our Festival dates. If this April date proves to be too soon our plan is rollover our dates and everyone involved to September 10-12, 2021.

If required, some Festival activities may be modified, limited in capacity, and subject to restricted availability or closure. It is too soon to determine what this will look like at this point, but we already have detailed procedures worked out and, if instituted, will post and implement enhanced health and safety measure for our Attendees, Sponsors, Exhibitors, Vendors, Performers, Contractors, Volunteers and Staff to follow while participating in the Festival. If it is determined additional physical distancing is a requirement, a backup plan is in place to expand the Festival site to do so. Other plans ready to be rolled out include specific staff and security training, reduced contact (ie: cashless transactions), face coverings, temperature screening, enhanced cleaning, hand sanitizers, controlled and if required, limited number of visitors at any one time per block, and possibly eastbound pedestrian traffic separated from westbound pedestrian traffic on Main Street.

We look forward to getting this annual community Festival launched and the return to more normal conditions.
